On November 12 I was thrilled to work with my friend Emily Erwin and her PB&J Program here in Charlottesville. The PB&J Program has been working to teach children about healthy eating and show them how much fun it could be to make healthy foods at home. That night they teamed up with Johnson Elementary School and Hamdingers Catering to host a dinner for the students and their families. Everyone enjoyed amazing food from Hamdingers, was treated to a cooking demonstration of ginger mashed sweet potatoes, and then the students were able to walk ‘the market’ and get all the ingredients needed to make the mashed potatoes. It was amazing to see how excited all the kids were and interested in learning about healthy eating…not to mention how cute all of the kids were to photograph. Congrats Emily, the PB&J Program, Hamdingers Catering, and Johnson Elementary School on a job well done!
