It’s Friday and I almost missed posting this week! Luckily, I have some wonderful photos to share with you from a volunteering opportunity I had last night with the PB&J Fund. I first introduced you to the PB&J Fund in November 2009 and since then they have continued to grow and impact the Charlottesville community it so many positive ways. They partner with local schools, the Boys and Girls Club, and Children Youth and Family Services to provide programs such as a cooking club, potluck dinners, sandwich bars, and a school nurse snack pantry.
Last night they held one of their potluck dinners at Clark Elementary where students and their families indulged in soup and baked apples as well as a potluck of desserts brought by the families. Even better, following dinner they are treated to a demonstration by the chefs on how to make the delicious soups after which the families walked “the market” and selected the ingredients to make the soups at home. The PB&J Fund is a wonderful organization and they excel not only at teaching children healthy eating habits but also getting them really excited about it! I hope you enjoy the photos as well as visit the PB&J Fund website, blog, and Facebook fan page to learn more!
