A couple of weeks ago I received a phone call from Rico, referred to me by Leslie Lewis Sigler…love her! Rico was planning to propose to his girlfriend, Bere, on Valentine’s Day at Clairmont Farms (where they had one of their first dates…so cute!), and he wanted to work in some photos of the day. We tried to figure out a way that I could just be there and capture completely candid photos of them (without Bere knowing), but after realizing it was the off season and would likely be quite, we both thought that might come off creepy and scare Bere a bit. 😉 Instead we came up with the idea that Rico bought a mini session with me online through Groupon. When they arrived we proceeded with the small session as I nervously pretended like I knew NOTHING about what was going to happen. As any of my friends would tell you, I have no poker face so it was not easy to hide my excitement. At the end of the session I bid them fair well and pretended like I was leaving. Rico then had a picnic lunch set up for them where he was going to propose. I hid in the small lavender store with the farm owner, Meryl, as we anxiously awaited for the proposal. When we saw Rico get on his knee we were overcome with emotion…along with a couple other visitors in the store. Sorry Rico, you had a bit of a audience! Rico then called me and I rejoined them for a few more portraits. He even built a beautiful wooden box filled with symbols of their love and of course spelling out the big question. I’m serious Rico, you should host seminars on being romantic! You guys are one adorable couple and were a ton of fun to photograph. I hope you enjoy some of my favorite images below.
