West Coast Style Independence Day

The 4th of July has always been an extremely special holiday to me. Growing up it always meant being on Long Beach Island, NJ where my grandmother has a small cottage surrounded by other homes with extended family and friends. We would watch  the big island firework show from my cousin’s dock and sometimes even set off our own…though that didn’t always turn out to be the best idea! All the while feasting on our favorite blue crabs, clam chowder and of course a variety of BBQ. Though this 4th was on a smaller scale with just Zach and I most of the day, it was amazing how much it felt like home. BBQ lunch at Cold Spring Tavern, a little beach volleyball with some new friends, and fireworks down at the harbor. Not too shabby! I hope you all also enjoyed a happy and healthy Independence Day!
