Wedding Day Makeup Tips from Pro Artist, Page Berse

Wedding day makeup tips from Page BerseHey there brides to be, in the past I’ve tried to give you some tips on how to find your wedding photographer as well as how to get the most out of your wedding day photography. Now I would like to expand on some wedding day tips with a great guest post from makeup and hair artist, Page Berse, owner of Absolutely Fabulous…Glamor on the Go! Read below for some amazing and simple tips to keep in mind for your wedding day makeup.

From Page: Your wedding day is a day you’ve dreamed about your whole life. You’ve pinned, planned, sampled and tasted your way through, until every last detail has been nailed down. What I often find is that hair and makeup get set on the back burner as a priority when in fact, that is one of the biggest focal points of the day. The moment the bride comes into view, it should take your breathe away. Transforming into that radiant vision takes some skill and practice.

Here are a few key points to keep in mind when choosing your best look for your wedding day.

Keep it classic:

At the end of all the planning and fanfare the photos are what you have left to remember the day by. Keeping the look classic and timeless will ensure you don’t look back and wonder what you were thinking working a smokey eye at an afternoon wedding. A classic defined eye with natural looking lashes look lavish and beautiful without going overboard. A natural radiant pop of color on the cheeks and lips instantly transform you into a “Blushing Bride”. I highly recommend airbrush makeup for weddings for the light feel and look and the flawless finish. Airbrush makeup has a very long durable wear yet looks light and natural like a second skin. It can cover up any flaws and the look is seamless.

Be Yourself:

Choose a look that reflects your personality. Use a color palette designed to compliment your eye color and skin undertones. For example, orange is the complimentary color to blue. When used together the colors are more noticeable. So for blues eyes, shadows with a peach, coral ,or gold color base will pop the eye color. For green eyes, shadows with a violet base make them really stand out. Keep in mind the feel and theme of your wedding. Is it casual, rustic, whimsical or formal? Go with a look that reflects the mood of your wedding day.

Hire a Professional:

With all you have put into the details of your special day, put your personal appearance at the very top of the list of priorities. A good comparison to what you should spend on your hair and makeup is what you spent on your shoes. Are they Jimmy Choos or clearance rack at Macys? Believe me, your footwear will not get near as many photo ops as your face on your wedding day. Ask your vendors for a referral. Photographers, wedding planners and the venues themselves are great resources for hiring a great make up artist. Ask everyone you know, compile a nice list and do some research on your potential artist. Ask for reviews, portfolio and even published work to get a feel for the quality of work and professionalism. Do a quick phone interview or meet in person to see if they might be a fit for you.

ALWAYS do a pre-wedding day trial to ensure you are happy with the work and also to be certain the look you wanted works for you. I recommend 3-6 months out for a trial run in the event you are not completely happy and may want to try another artist. Always take pictures after the trial. This gives you a chance to critique and decide what you do and don’t like objectively. Being a Bride is a lot of responsibility. With all of the decisions to be made, make looking like the most beautiful version of you a priority. Pamper yourself a little and let someone who specializes in bridal beauty make you look and feel amazing on your special day. Your photos will be viewed for generations, make sure your unique beauty dazzles them for years to come.
