This past April, Rob and Barbara wed at an intimate ceremony outside the First Baptist Church in Santa Barbara. But their love story began a long time ago…ten years in fact! Like so many these days, Rob and Barbara met online. Barbara explains “For our first date, we had dinner at The Crocodile at the Lemon Tree Hotel. I was a little suspicious – who meets at a hotel? But he chose the restaurant because he had recently worked on the remodel (he does drywall), and he knew they had good food, it would be quiet and we could talk. We met at 6:30 and I didn’t expect much; I told my sitter I’d be home by 8. So we met at the restaurant and it turns out Rob is a great story teller! Next time I looked at my watch it was 9:20, I couldn’t believe it! When I got home, I told my sitter he was really fun, I’d go out with him again. And I did…for ten years!” Then ten years later, Rob quietly proposed to Barbara with flowers and a gorgeous ring, after which they returned to The Crocodile for a celebration dinner.
For their big day, they choose to use lots of potted plants for the ceremony setup including palms, hydrangeas, roses, and Chinese Fringe Trees. Following their wedding day, they planted everything at their home where they Chinese Fringe Trees will bloom every year around their anniversary…what an amazing idea!
For the cut flowers they did use in Barbara’s bouquet and their table arrangements, Tracey with Ella & Louie Floral beautifully combined secret garden roses, pint tulips and pink sweet peas.
Having just lost her mother’s sister, Auntie G, the week before, Barbara and her mom took a few quite moment of remembrance prior to the ceremony.
I guess it is obvious I was completely in love with this gorgeous olive tree and natural wooden cross backdrop at the front of the church!
They topped off their perfect day with an over the top five course dinner for their guests at Olio e Limone in downtown Santa Barbara. Only to be out done by a delectable cake done in perfect Tuscany fashion (if you ask this Italian!) created especially for them by Barbara’s dear friend.
Congratulations to a beautiful couple (inside and out) on their beautiful wedding day!
